Ordering with us: When you place an order via Cheese on Coast’s website, it is classed as an offer, which if accepted by Cheese on Coast results in a binding contract. By completing the checkout process on the Cheese on Coast website, you are also agreeing to all of our Terms and Conditions as presented on the website.
Should Cheese on Coast accept your order, you will be sent an email containing the details of your order. Once this email has been sent, it means the order has been accepted, a contract has been formed, and payment will be taken. The contract will be formed at the place of dispatch of the goods, namely the UK. If, in the unlikely event, your order is not accepted, Cheese on Coast will notify you via email of why this is the case, and no payment will be taken.
By submitting your order you are allowing Cheese on Coast to use your personal details for the purposes of supplying goods (including passing your details onto shippers and/or other subcontractors). Cheese on Coast will not use your personal information or other details for any other purposes.
It is your responsibility to check all the information in the confirmation email is correct, and notify Cheese on Coast immediately via email should there be any inaccuracies. Cheese on Coast will not be liable for reimbursing you for the value of any goods which have perished or been damaged as a result of your failure to inform Cheese on Coast of inaccurate information being listed on the confirmation email.
Occasionally Cheese on Coast run out of things. When this happens, an intelligent choice of substitute cheese will be sent. If what’s missing seems to be a significant proportion of the order, Cheese on Coast will try to contact you to discuss possible alternatives.
Cancelling an order: Should you wish to cancel an order that has been accepted by Cheese on Coast, and a confirmation email has already been sent out to you, Cheese on Coast are unable to guarantee that the order can be cancelled and provide a full refund. However, if you email Cheese on Coast as soon as possible, and your items have not yet been dispatched, Cheese on Coast will endeavour to cancel your order and refund you in full without charge. In cases where your cheese has already been cut, this will not be possible.
Cutting & Weighing: All cheeses are cut to order by hand and cheese is a perishable product with a limited shelf life of around 10 days, please bear this is mind when placing your order and choosing your delivery date.
As such, all weights referred to on the Cheese on Coast website are guidelines, and there can be some fluctuations around those guideline weights. Cutting cheese accurately to a given weight is an art, not a science. Whole cheeses are also – as handmade products – approximate in weight, so bear in mind that a ‘whole truckle’ described as 1.2kg could well be more or less than that. Cheese on Coast is unable to offer refunds for complaints arising from reasonable variations from stipulated guideline weights. Our cheeses are produced using artisan methods and therefore subject to seasonal availability and changes in shape/ size etc. The reproduction of colours is as accurate as the photographic and production process will allow.
Shipping & Delivery: It takes a day to receive and process your order. All orders are shipped with an overnight courier service. However, for deliveries to some parts of the Highlands, to the Scottish Islands – and in fact all UK islands – can take longer and will incur additional costs. Please note that we do not, and cannot, GUARANTEE delivery on your chosen date, as deliveries are by a 3rd party and out of the control of Cheese on Coast.
In normal weeks (e.g. Ones without Bank Holidays) orders placed Monday – Thursday before Midday, delivery on the following day is possible (as long as we have the cheeses you want).
Orders placed Friday, Saturday and Sunday: Ship on Monday. Cheese on Coast does not ship on Fridays, Saturdays or Sundays.
During December and other peak periods, we may require additional days to process and deliver your order and will inform you of any unusual delays.
Your delivery cost will be automatically calculated once you input your postcode at the checkout.
Mainland UK – The cost of delivery to the UK is £6.50. Edinburgh, Glasgow and Southern areas of Scotland also qualify for this shipping cost. Highlands, Islands & Northern Ireland – The cost of delivery to these areas is £18 to £19.50 depending on location and accessibility. Northern Scotland, Northern Ireland and remote areas will be on a 2-day delivery service. Jersey & Guernsey – The cost of delivery these areas is £4.50 per KG. The delivery charge only covers delivery to one address. If you want cheese sending to more than two addresses, please place two separate orders.
Before completing your purchase, you must indicate instructions for the courier as to where your delivery should be left in the event nobody is present to receive the order e.g.
an alternative delivery instruction, in case you’re not in to receive the order (such as “leave on porch, leave in a shed, leave with neighbour”)
Property number / name, complete post code and a telephone number
It is important that you are as specific as possible with these instructions. Please note that should your indicated preference not be secure, Cheese on Coast are unable to assume liability for loss or damage incurred as a result of the cheese being left in/at that location. It is therefore imperative that you ensure someone is available to either receive or collect the delivery on either the day, or the day after the scheduled delivery date. The courier will attempt to deliver your parcel twice, if you are not in on both occasions to take the delivery and it can’t be left safe then it will go back to the depot and cannot be reattempted due to the perishable nature of the products. If there is nobody available to receive the delivery, or collect it, on either the day of delivery, or the following day, Cheese on Coast are unable to offer any refunds or compensation provided the original delivery was delivered on one of those days.
Cheese on Coast suggests sending your cheese to a work address if you feel delivery is difficult or the consignment can’t be left safe (Ideal for London-based deliveries).
If you are ordering for a gift or special occasion Cheese on coast advise you to always allow an extra 24 hours to allow for any unforeseen courier delays.
On arrival of your cheese, open the box, remove the ice pack if there is one (These are included in warmer months only and will gradually defrost during transit – this is normal) and put your cuts of cheese in the fridge to chill and firm up after being in transit.
Pricing: All prices on this web site are correct at time of publishing (errors and omissions exempt) and are invoiced in GBP sterling at the price prevailing at the time you place your order and are not inclusive of delivery fees unless otherwise stated. Cheese on Coast reserves the right to alter prices from time to time without notice. Products may vary from representative images and are subject to availability.
Returns and Claims: Cheeses are perishable goods therefore unfortunately we cannot accept returns. However, if you suspect something is wrong with your order please contact us immediately (At the most, within 24 hours) and if at all possible supply pictures of the issue. Cheese on Coast will do everything possible to re‐route orders for timely delivery but cannot be responsible for damaged or compromised product due to the following:
Delayed deliveries due to weather or other “force majeure” situations;
Gift shipments sent to recipients who are out of town or otherwise unavailable to receive their shipment. Please notify recipient of the pending arrival of perishables.
Packaging and Recycling: Cheese on Coast are very mindful of using any plastic in packaging (Members of Plastic Free St Ives campaign) and want to make delivery boxes and their contents as eco-friendly as possible. Therefore Cheese on Coast have made a conscious effort to make as much of the packaging as recyclable and re-usable as possible:
Recyclable – Cardboard Box, Paper items
Compostable / Degradable – Wax coated cheese paper
Re-usable – Ice Packs (If included)
Non-Recyclable – Anything with food residue, the bag the ice pack is in and sticky tape
Special Occasions: If you are ordering your cheese for a wedding, birthday or special occasion, we advise that you call / contact Cheese on Coast directly so that your order is to your liking. Please try and give Cheese on Coast as much notice as you possibly can, and ideally at least a month. Occasion cakes can be managed with less, but it’s hugely helpful to have plenty of notice for these very important orders.
Subscriptions: Cheese on Coasts 3 month, 6 month, 9 month and 12 month subscriptions must be paid for in advance at the time or ordering. Please note that once the first monthly subscription has been delivered, Cheese on Coast is unable to offer any refunds on the subscription. Cheese on Coast will always confirm each delivery date throughout your subscription in your first delivery box. If Cheese on Coast does not hear from you, it will be taken that you agree with those dates. At your request, Cheese on Coast is fully flexible with regards to your delivery preferences and requirements, please note that under Cheese on Coast’s packaging ethos your box that your cheese is delivered in maybe less than perfect, but its contents will be to the highest standards expected.
